Investigation Launched After Fatal Widow Spider Attack

The preliminary result of the autopsy performed on the body of the man who died after being attacked by black widows in Monserrat revealed that the cause of his death was due to "congestion, edema, and pulmonary hemorrhage and diffuse cerebral edema." The National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor's Office No. 49, led by prosecutor Marcelo Ruilópez, has initiated an investigation for robbery and inquiry into the causes of death in this incident that took place in a neighborhood in Buenos Aires.

The tragic event occurred when the man, accompanied by a friend, brought two women to his home where, after consuming alcoholic beverages, both individuals lost consciousness and the host died. The preliminary results of the autopsy indicate that congestion, edema, and pulmonary hemorrhage along with diffuse cerebral edema were decisive in the death of the 38-year-old man. The results of additional toxicological and histopathological studies are awaited to better understand the circumstances of the death.

The Buenos Aires Public Prosecutor's Office has communicated that the investigation led by the Prosecutor's Office is ongoing, and the first evidentiary measures have been implemented to clarify the facts and determine the corresponding responsibilities. Among the actions taken are the collection of testimonies, forensic analysis of the crime scene, and review of security camera footage.

With at least three attacks by black widows in the City of Buenos Aires in recent days, the alarming situation has raised concerns about the increase in cases of this kind.
